Get Debt Free
I absolutely kick myself every time I think about how long I stayed in the grip of debt. For years I struggled to make payments on my mortgage, making ends meet working day and night. I just wish I knew then what I know now, and I could have solved most of my problems years ago. It’s great for me to be able to highlight the opportunities out there to help you get debt free, so other people don’t make the same mistakes I did.
The first thing to do is to get advice. Go to you’re local citizens advice bureau, ask friends who have been in the same boat, and find out how bad your situation is. There’s normally a way out, even if it sometimes means bankruptcy. Even if things seem pretty awful, the chances are that you can start to resolve your situation without going to such extremes. I personally opted for an IVA . This meant that a licensed insolvency practitioner set up an agreement with all of the people I have debts with for me to pay a certain amount of money back every month for five years. This figure was agreed at whatever I could afford to pay after my ongoing bills and general living expenses. This meant that the full five year term with the creditors only made up about thirty percent of my debts, but the great thing was, after the five year term, the remaining debt just got written off! It’s very common, and the creditors are normally just happy to have at least some of the money coming in.
I really have to reiterate that as long as you seek help in the correct channels you will be ok. try to arrange yourself some sort of debt management and you will be able to fight your way out of the spot you’re in now. You can never give in or roll over, keep fighting it and get help. With people’s help, you can get debt free.
